Text in a reference picture: what went in, and what came out
Every Pruna test of text in a reference image so far: the exact pictures sent, the exact prompt around them, and the frames that came back, with the wrong text ringed. Every clip was judged from stills; none was played on the build PC.
The big question card held. Sent as a reference image beside the Psalm 73 film frame, at 768p with the keep-the-text prompt, the card and the "Psalm 73:3" chip were right and in place in all 25 frames checked, start to end (Q768K).
It held only there. With the same pictures at 480p, the card dissolved away at 7 seconds (Q480K). Without the keep-the-text line in the prompt, the card was gone after 0.4 seconds and came back melted (Q768P), or it melted at 4 seconds and the chip read "Psalm 73:8" for half a second (Q480P).
The start frame held the card exactly at both sizes (S768K, S480K). But it turns on Pruna's prompt upsampler, which adds 5 to 6 seconds, and it only keeps what code already drew.
Why text in a reference goes wrong
Pruna doesn't paste the picture in. It redraws every letter, so a digit can come out as a different digit. The wrong one is crisp and steady from the first frame: $3,400 became $2,400 and $1,900 became $1,300 (B4), 84 became 81 (L2), and 73:3 became 73:8 (Q480P).
Small type breaks first. Under about 20 px high in the finished frame it garbles or drops (B1, L1, H1). Big type, 26 px and up, mostly survives.
Pruna also decides what stays on screen. It cuts away, shrinks, dissolves, or puts a hand over the text (Q768P, Q480K, t2).
The prompt matters as much as the size. B2 and B4 are the same seed and settings with only the prompt changed, and so are Q768K and Q768P.
No cheap automatic check catches it. An independent reader (Gemini 3.8 Flash) quietly corrected most of the wrong text when it read the frames.
What to do for church v2
Answer clips made ahead (the banks): the card and the citation chip can go in as reference images at 768p with the keep-the-text prompt, as long as someone checks every half second before it ships, like the strips on this page.
The live part: draw the card and the citation on top in the page. It's exact, it lets the clip stay at 480p speed (Q480K filed in 10.3 s against 18.1 s for Q768K), and a wrong verse number can't happen.
How to read each test: the coloured label is the verdict. "What went in" opens the exact files and the prompt as sent. On the zoomed stills a red ring marks what's wrong, numbered to the notes under it.
New test: a question card and a citation chip
A large, short question card ("You asked: Why does the psalmist envy the wicked?") and a citation chip ("Psalm 73:3"), both drawn in code in the app's colours, sent as reference images beside the Week 11 Psalm 73 frame for verse 3. Two resolutions, with and without the keep-the-text prompt, then the start-frame version for comparison. Same seed (4711), same voice line, same settings otherwise. The voice is the study films' own: Algenib with "The Younger Brother" direction on gemini-3.1-flash-tts.
Held: every frame right

The painted scene from the first reference, in exactly its style, colours and lighting: the psalmist in his white headcloth seen over his shoulder at the left edge, the proud in their gilded procession in the bright street below, and the white and gold palace beyond. Gentle natural motion: the procession moves slowly from left to right, cloth and light move softly, and the camera stays locked off. Nobody in the picture speaks; every mouth stays closed. The voice is an unseen narrator. Laid flat over the top centre of the picture, facing the camera like a title card on a screen, is the dark question card from the second reference, large, about two thirds of the frame's width, showing exactly its words: every letter unchanged, crisp, sharp and fully legible, with the same layout, font and colours. Laid flat over the lower left corner of the picture in the same way is the small dark citation chip from the third reference, showing exactly its words: every letter and number unchanged, crisp and fully legible. The card and the chip stay perfectly still and never change during the shot, and nothing passes in front of them. No other text anywhere.

The blue cartoon bull in the navy suit, white shirt and blue tie from the first reference stands on the right of the frame beside a large flat presentation board on the left. The board faces the camera straight on and shows exactly the line chart from the second reference: every word and number unchanged, crisp, sharp and fully legible, with the same layout and colours. The board and its text stay perfectly still and never change during the shot. He turns slightly toward the board and gestures toward it with an open hand held below and beside it, never covering any part of it, while saying the words of the audio to the viewer, his mouth moving with the speech. Plain light background, steady locked-off camera, same ink-line and watercolour wash style.

The blue cartoon bull in the navy suit, white shirt and blue tie from the reference stands in the right third of the frame, chest-up, turned slightly toward the left of the frame. The left two-thirds of the frame is a plain, empty, light wall with nothing on it. While saying the words of the audio to the viewer, his mouth moving with the speech, he opens one hand and gestures toward the empty space on the left, keeping his hand close to his body inside the right third of the frame. Steady locked-off camera, same ink-line and watercolour wash style.
